TrustIndex.today is a research project by Rob Manson (Latent Geometry Lab) that monitors and measures trust in AI-Mediated experiences. The index tracks six key metrics—Autonomy, Reality, Fidelity, Transparency, Portability, and Equality—that collectively indicate the health of the relationship between humans and AI systems.

## The Six Metrics

### 1. Autonomy (0-100)
Measures the balance between human control and AI autonomy in decision-making. Lower values indicate AI systems making more autonomous decisions; higher values indicate humans retaining more control.

### 2. Reality (0-100)
Measures our ability to distinguish real from synthetic content. Lower values indicate increasing difficulty telling real from AI-generated; higher values indicate better ability to identify synthetic content.

### 3. Fidelity (0-100)
Measures the accuracy and faithfulness of AI representations. Lower values indicate more distortion or hallucination; higher values indicate more accurate AI outputs.

### 4. Transparency (0-100)
Measures visibility into AI decision-making processes. Lower values indicate "black box" AI systems; higher values indicate explainable, transparent AI.

### 5. Portability (0-100)
Measures data and identity ownership and transferability. Lower values indicate vendor lock-in and data silos; higher values indicate user control over their data.

### 6. Equality (0-100)
Measures fair and equitable access to AI benefits. Lower values indicate unequal access and AI benefits concentrated among few; higher values indicate broadly distributed AI benefits.
